Because Deliberate Safety Is No Accident..

Welcome to SM Safety - your partner in protecting your business.

My name is Sean Madigan. I am the founder and Managing Director of SM Safety Limited.

Whilst almost everyone wants and desires a safe workplace, the reality is that most business owners are not excited by the implementation and mechanics involved in promoting and sustaining a safe working culture. They often have other, more urgent priorities. So safety, while ever present and vital to business survival, often gets dropped down the list to the, "I'll get to that later.." category.

It doesn't have to be that way.

SM Safety are experts at bringing in real, positive change in processes, culture and mindset - all of which are essential to a safe workplace.

With over 20 years experience in various disciplines of Health & Safety along with Project Management across several sectors including manufacturing, construction and retail, contact us today to see how SM Safety can help deliver real benefits to your business. Our services are outlined below so I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Fully Certified Manual Handling Training

It is a legal requirement for most businesses to fully train their employees in the practice of Manual Handling and SM Safety provide certified Manual Handling Training delivered by a FETAC Level 6 trainer at a location to suit you. Contact us straight away to discuss your needs.

Safety Policy Development

One of the worst things that could happen to you as an employer is to have to inform the relative or next-of-kin of one of your employees that they have suffered a serious accident - or worse - at your place of work.

The one comfort you will have in this difficult situation however will be the ability to tell the next-of-kin and your Insurer that you took ALL reasonable steps towards providing a safe working environment. Part of that means having a working Safety Policy

Section 20 of Ireland's Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 requires that employers prepare a written Safety Statement for their company. This statement is effectively a company's Health & Safety Management system for ensuring the safety, health and welfare of all its employees while at work.

SM Safety is well experienced in this regard. Contact us today to arrange a solution.

Risk Assessments

Risk Assessments sound daunting and arduous but the reality is everyone conducts Risk Assessments every time they cross a road or check the weather forecast. However in a business context, SM Safety brings you 20 years of experience and knowledge meaning we can quickly and efficiently identify risks in your workplace and propose solutions to minimise them. This involves 5 steps:

  • Step 1: Identify the hazards.
  • Step 2: Decide who might be harmed and how.
  • Step 3: Evaluate the risks and decide on precautions.
  • Step 4: Record your findings and implement them.
  • Step 5: Review your risk assessment and update when necessary.

No business stands still so it is important to review your Risk Assessments regularly. Staff come and go, new equipment, changes in how you do things all present a need to assess the possible risks again.

Process Mapping

Process mapping works a little like Google Maps - it gets you to your destination (in this case the work task completed) in the most efficient way possible.

Process Mapping is the act of creating a workflow diagram with the goal of gaining a clearer understanding of how a process and its parallel processes work. Mapping out business processes will help you to understand all the steps needed to complete a workflow. It will give your business a benchmark to measure proposed process changes against others allowing you to measure if the changes delivered the results you want. In other words, it makes your business more efficient, reduces waste and improves productivity.

System Auditing

SM Safety is a leading provider of Audit services providing both general Health and Safety and Construction-site Health and Safety providing employers with comprehensive, practical reporting clearly identifying hazards and the controls required to minimise the risk. As is the case with all things related to Safety, the Audit and Reports alone are not enough. Their recommendations must be implemented in order to achieve their desired objective.
